In April 2011, the National Salmon Resources Center was merged with the Hokkaido National Fisheries Research Institute (HNF). The new Institute has three research divisions: Salmon Resources Division, Stock Management Division, and Productivity and Environment Division. The Salmon Resources Division manages 12 field stations (hatcheries) in Hokkaido for researches and conservation of salmon stocks.
